There will be no peace in Cyprus before imperialism is kicked out!

We are going through a period in which the governments of Turkey and Greece are winding up nationalism to overcome the problems they face in their domestic agenda. The confrontations from time to time in the Aegean Sea between two countries, which are collaborators of imperialism in Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, are reflected in media. It is seen that in such a period, the process of resolving the Cyprus problem is at a near dead end while a process of confirming the division in the island and even “taksim” (partition) is sought to be presented as solution. It is seen that the parties, who have put aside the interests of Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot workers, are taking unilateral steps that could lead to skirmishes over the oil and natural gas resources in the ongoing struggle for exploiting the energy resources in the Eastern Mediterranean. The steps taken by Greek Cypriot government with Israel and Egypt towards opening the oil and natural gas resources in the Eastern Mediterranean to exploitation for imperialist monopolies has been met with a response by Turkey to a degree that warships came to the brink of a collision with an Italian drilling ship. On the other hand, the drilling vessels of the American oil monopoly Exxon Mobil, along with their Qatari partners, are now located in the Eastern Mediterranean off the coast of Cyprus along with the symbol of USA imperialism in our region, 6th Fleet. This picture constitutes an example of how actually Turkey in the hands of AKP is working as a partner to the imperialist plans while propagandizing about “national interest” and “struggle against imperialism”. The threat of war, which has become a constant in foreign politics, which is a mockery now, does not come to mean anything other than essentially coveting on the blood of poor laborers. All these developments once again reveal the importance of the expulsion of the imperialists and their collaborators from the region to find a solution for Cyprus problem and Turkey and its neighbors to find peace. Communist Movement (Party) of Turkey, while repeating its warning to abandon the confrontation of Turkey with all its neighbors because of the foreign policies, which are proven to be failures, of AKP and making the benefits of the energy resources that belong to workers of Cyprus available unilaterally to imperialists and monopolies prior to making the struggle of a united Cyprus successful, expresses one more time the necessity of raising the joint struggle of Turkish, Greek, Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot workers against imperialism. In this context, it should be understood that the success of the struggle against the collaborationist policies crystallized in particular with AKP in Turkey and Greece SYRIZA, the solution in Cyprus based on the union of the two communities and the removal of soldiers of all other countries from the island, the abandonment of paving the way for imperialist intervention in the region with unilateral steps by the Greek Cypriot government constitute a whole. Long live the anti-imperialist struggle of the working people! Long live united Cyprus! Down with imperialism! Down with monopolies that plunder our world!
