Communist Movement (Party) of Turkey (TKH) protested the proposed U.S. sanctions on Turkey.
TKH members gathered in front of the US Consulate in İstanbul on Monday, December 14th by maintaining social distance, and chanted slogans such as “Murderer USA, get out of Middle East!”, “Imperialists, collaborators, do not forget the 6th Fleet!”, “This country is ours; we will not leave it to Yankees and zealots!”.
The statement read during the protest by the Chairperson of TKH, Aysel Tekerek, is as follows:
AGAINST U.S. SANCTIONS: WITHDRAW FROM NATO! SHUT DOWN INCIRLIK BASE! CONFISCATE KÜRECİK RADAR STATION!
Adoption of sanctions against Turkey by the U.S. House of Representatives and the submission of the said bill to U.S. President’s approval should be seen as an imperialist aggression towards our country.
The so-called Countering America`s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) of the USA includes several sanctions of predominantly economic content.
Submission to these sanctions brought forward by the US imperialism on our country is unacceptable.
U.S. politics is nothing but the politics of threats and blackmail.
However, it is also obvious that the purpose of this politics is to ensure the permanence of Turkey’s full collaboration with imperialism.
From this standpoint, the understanding which alleges “the U.S. has bared its teeth to our country, therefore negotiation is essential” should be backhandedly rejected by us.
Turkish capitalist class, the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and capitalist state of Turkey have no other alternative or intention than negotiating with imperialism against these sanctions brought forward over Turkey’s purchase of S-400 missile systems from Russia.
For the security and independence of our country, the imperialist yoke must be shaken off once and for all!
Precisely because of that, toilers of our country only have a single solution, which is to strengthen the struggle against imperialism. For the struggle against imperialism is also the struggle against inequalities, against the bosses exploiting us, against the political power which represents them and against the capitalist system which breeds them all.
There can be no negotiation in the struggle against imperialism.
So-called “honourable reconciliation"" with imperialism is merely a lie.
Struggle against imperialism cannot be waged by making overtures to imperialism!
Because the target of imperialism is our country and the toilers of Turkey as a whole.
In this regard we urge our working-class brothers and sisters to gather under the banner of anti-imperialist struggle with the following demands:
Withdraw from NATO! Shut down all U.S. military bases, İncirlik to begin with! Confiscate Kürecik radar station!
Reveal and terminate all secret treaties signed with imperialists!
Economic mechanisms of imperialist oppression squeezing our country like the tentacles of an octopus must be smashed to bits, all strategic economic and infrastructure institutions must be nationalized!
Politics to sidle up to the European Union (EU) and the empty rhetoric of “honourable membership” must be stopped, as an imperialist formation EU must be opposed and fought against, and Turkey must withdraw from the Customs Union.
This is the way of independence and liberation of our country! Submission to the military, political and economic threats of U.S. imperialism is unacceptable!
A Turkey free from imperialism is possible!
